Annual Report 2020 – 2021

“Education is the movement from darkness to light” - Allen Bloom. The Annual Report articulates the dynamic nature of our school. This report comprises of details on Academic achievements, Sports, celebrations and activities associated with NLC India Ltd.

Academic Achievements :-

Due to the disproportionate toll of COVID – 19 the board exams were cancelled for Std X, XI & XII during the academic year 2020 – 2021.

There were 244 students in std.XII, 276 students in std.XI and 317 students in std.X. We achieved centum results in std.XII as the consolidated annual performance. Sarumathi.N Secured 591.32 / 600 and took the first place, Swetha.S 583.56/600 with second place and Bharani.T took the third place with a score of 582.36 /600.

  • In the face of converging crisis the management, staff, students and parents rendered immense support for a meticulous execution to online learning and teaching. Online classes were conducted through Google Meet and Zoom meet for 45 min to 1 Hr. for all the main subjects. Students of classes I to XI were progressively monitored even after the annual exams were cancelled as per the Govt. orders due to COVID – 19.
  • Textbooks of Sapience publications for Kindergarten and EDAC publications for grade I to VIII were chosen to give training and continual assistance for teachers to take classes in the CBSE stream. We continued communication with the students and parents through the Neverskip Communication Services.

Milestone in the history of our School:

With pride we are happy to inform that we have upgraded our school from State Board to CBSE.

The important documents of our school like Lease, Sanitary, Fire and Safety, Building stability and license were renewed and registered in the new school name” St. Joseph of Cluny Public School”. NOC was granted by State Government before lockdown.

Many enhancements in infrastructure like Library extension, revampment of Maths, Composite and Language labs, Sports, Dance and Yoga rooms were done to meet the requirements of CBSE. Rest rooms and ramps for special need children were constructed.

As per CBSE norms, Student profile consisting of student records, Health and personality Assessment etc. for over 3000 students were newly prepared and maintained.

Registers and files in huge number, nearly 35,250, based on CBSE rules and regulations were made ready within a short span in spite of the pandemic. The various arrangements for inspection went on in a full swing by the meticulous planning of the management and the diligent work of the school staff.

Our school was inspected by CBSE Inspection Committee members on 11th December.

With God’s blessings we received the Grant letter from CBSE on 16th December 2020. This day is inscribed in the annals of our School. Our Principal Sr.Joyce Roseline, on 18th December revealed to the teachers that the school got affiliated to CBSE upto Std XII.

The 54 years old reputation of our school, the unstinted support of our Provincial Sr. Rosary, the support and cooperation rendered by Sr. John Mary, the far sighted vision, tireless efforts and hardwork of the Principal, Sr. Joyce Roseline, Correspondent, Sr. Agnes and dedicated team work of the teachers enabled us to climb greater heights in spite of the pandemic. The grant of the CBSE affiliation is another milestone in the history of our School.

Teacher Enhancement Programme:

"It’s the teachers that makes the change , not the mere classroom."

Our teachers attended various virtual training sessions directed by CBSE. Online courses conducted by DIKSHA were also completed.

EDAC held various webinars like Communication Etiqutte of Digital Teacher to equip our teaching community in digital teaching. Rev. Fr. John Kennedy conducted a virtual Teacher’s Orientation Programme which enabled teachers to enhance their teaching skills and build better relationships with students during this pandemic.

Periodic trainings and assessment is given to all the teachers on month basis, to enhance their teaching skills and improve their teaching. To take education to next level, “Online Teaching Tools and Other Resources” conducted by Super Teacher Team were attended by our teachers. Other agencies like Jypzzer, Jolly Phonics, Redink, Climate Reality Change, My Centa hosted webinars on Early childhood education, Understanding multiple Intelligence, Joyful Mathematics, Green School Programme, and the list goes on. We have introduced Sapience Publications Content App for KG students to train the kids at home.

Celebrations :

Kamarajar‘s Birthday: Perunthalaivar Kamarajar’s birthday was celebrated as “Educational Development Day” at school.

Independence Day: On this special occasion as the people of India remember the selfless sacrifice and unparalleled contributions of great men and women, Our Principal, Rev. Sr. Joyce Roseline, hoisted the National flag and addressed the teachers.

Teacher’s Day: Teacher’s day was celebrated with a prayer service, an audio visual treat to remind the previous year’s Teacher’s day celebration to recall the presence of children in the school campus before the existing pandemic situation. The Management honoured the teachers with a cash gift of Rs. 1000/- and a sweet box.

Children’s Day: Every child is a miracle with their own ways to make this world a beautiful place for us. Insisting this at the existing pandemic situation an offline video was sent where all the teachers greeted them in their own style with the message “Happy Children’s Day”.

Christmas: Christmas is the season of joy of gift giving and of families united. Christmas was celebrated with prayer service and gifts were given by the management to the staff after a sumptuous lunch. About 1800 poor people were given 3 Kgs of Rice, sarees, bedsheets, shawls, towels and snacks for children.

Pongal: There is a sense of dedication to God and his benevolence for giving the agricultural season with perfect blends of sunshine and rain. A special prayer service was done highlighting the Uzhavar Thirunaal followed by sharing of pongal and sugarcane to all teachers, workers and their families.

Republic Day: Republic day was celebrated with a lot pride and fervor. Our Principal, Sr.Joyce Roseline, hoisted the National flag at the gathering of all the staff at school. There was also programmes staged by the teachers on patriotism.

Farewell: Great is the art of beginning but greater is the art of ending. Our Principal and Correspondent addressed our students of std.XII and we bid farewell to our loving outgoing students with a prayer service and momento.

Re – opening of School:

As the schools were closed due to the prevalence of COVID pandemic meetings were held with the parents to get their opinion regarding re-opening of schools and sending of their wards to school in a safe manner in January, 2021.

Getting back to learning in school, our students of X & XII happily marched in to the school campus following the standard operating procedures; sanitizers and masks were provided and checked and recorded the student’s temperature, everyday.

Thanks to our old Correspondent, Rev. Sr. John Mary for her tireless service of 3 years in our campus. We welcomed our new correspondent, Rev. Sr. Agnes, who took up the charge of her responsibilities and addressed our teachers in the month of February, 2021.

To create an effective learning environment for students and teachers a seminar was conducted by Fr. Darline Joseph Marianathan, MSFSI, London, on the topic “The Power of Brain“ in March, 2021. Nearly 124 teachers and 1200 students got benefitted out of this session. It was mind blowing and appreciated by everyone.

NLC Learning and Development Centre conducted a programme about “Counseling skill for Teachers” in Training complex by which many teachers were benefitted.

In order to create awareness about Road Safety NLCIL arranged a Bus exhibition at school portraying the Road Safety signals and protocols.
