With great pleasure I present to you the 55th Annual Report of our school for the academic year 2022-2023.

"The most beautiful moments in life are moments when you are expressing your joy, not when you are seeking it.” Annual events are the right time for our children to express their joy by showcasing their year round learning and hidden talent. It's a time for celebration and recognition of the students as well as the school's achievements. Our School aims to be the centre of excellence in education using technology, where the seeds of all round development of children are sown at an early age.

I thank the Almighty, for all the blessings bestowed upon us year after year. St. Joseph of Cluny has grown in leaps and bounds through the years since its humble beginning in 1968 and the past year has been no exception. We are blessed with nearly 100 above efficient and committed teachers who mould the destiny of nearly 4,000 promising children entrusted in their hands.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS:

Academics is the core focus of our school. All the possible efforts are taken to restorethe learning gap that happened during the pandemic to ensure academic excellence of our school. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all our stakeholders and well-wishers for their constant support in our endeavors to ensure quality education for our students. With all your blessings we received CBSE affiliation in the year 2019-20, and now we are happy to inform that we have extended our CBSE Affiliation till year 2029.

Excellence in education and fostering the love of learning is the hallmark of our school. Today we have gathered here to acknowledge the success achieved by the sheer hardwork and perseverance of our students under the expert guidance of their respective mentors.

In the academic year 2022-2023 our XIIstd, students excelled the board exams with centum results.

  • Tharunika B decked the roll of honour with the score of 591/600,
  • Praveena P and Vidhya Uscoring 589/600 stands second.
  • Sivatharshini V stands third with 587/600.

The centum tally is 10 in Accountancy, 7 in commerce, 6 in Business Maths, 4 in Computer Science, 3 in chemistry and 2 in Economics.

In Class X CBSE Board Examination,

  • Lakshitha R K distinguished herself with a score of 479/500.
  • Dheepthi B L stood Second Scoring 478/500,
  • Udhaya Sri A K with 477/500.

The centum score in Maths and Tamil is a commendable achievement by our students.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:

Competitions and academic activities that go beyond the textbook and the classrooms encourage and foster a healthy and competitive spirit and effective communication skills in the students. The activities are conducted at classroom level, school level and inter house level.Some of these events are handwriting competition,essay writing,debate,slogan writing competition,story writing,elocution,quiz bee and many more. Science, Maths, English Olympiads are conducted every year and students perform excellently well in those competitions

SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES(VISION & MISSION):

The mission is to achieve the holistic development of students through an excellent academic and physical environment that is conducive to learning, developing creativity and exploration to create healthy strong discipline, bold and competent citizens who will work for the betterment of the nation. The School focuses not only on advanced academics but also on extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Students are trained at a very young age towards incorporating a sense of responsibility, loyalty, team spirit and healthy competition to become dignified personalities. To accomplish all goals our significant, dynamic team of teachers & administrators worked very hard and left no stone unturned.

With the vision of empowering young minds to aspire for the best colleges and excel in competitive exams, our school in collaboration with Tech Support Team strives to develop strong fundamentals at schooling.

A spectrum of periodical tests with competency based questions experiential Art Integrated Projects, Activity based learning, Remedial classes for slow learners, Counseling sessions for board exam students, Seminars by experts are the secrets behind our success.

An awareness program on the different courses available in Senior Secondary and multitude entrance exam with its scope was conducted by Synergic Academy for the parents and students of Class X in January 2023.

CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES:

“Investiture is a celebration of leadership”

  • Our Clunians got an opportunity to excel in their leadership traits by taking active participation. The school is divided into four houses led by Captains and Vice-captain. The investiture ceremony was conducted on 30thJune 2023
  • To improve balance, coordination and cardiovascular health of students, Skating and Silambam were introduced in our school in the month of July. More than 200 students from Class I to IX attend these sessions weekly twice after school hours.
  • Classical dance training classes will be commencing shortly in our school.
  • Club Inauguration
    To develop social skill and hone creative thinking various clubs were inaugurated on 07th July 2023. Students of classes VI-IX, are now member of one of the following clubs – English, Maths, Tamil, Science, Social,Yuva Tourism, Nanette Club, JRC and guides.
  • Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities
    Co-curricular are essential attributes for any educational institution as they strengthen the classroom learning as well as develop the personality of a child which are conducted all-round the year to encourage applied education.
    Some of these activities are card making, best out of waste, poster making, chart making. Participation by the students and teachers in these events is commendable.
    School gives recognition to significant global events and celebrates these special days with enthusiasm. Some of the events celebrated are- Children’s Day, Constitutional Day, Yoga day, Science exhibition, Environment day, Mother FoundressDay and Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Birth day, Teacher’s day, World’s Students day / AdbulKalam Birthday, etc.

"It is said that you must practice like you have never had one and perform like you have never lost".

ACTVITIES IN COLLABORATION WITH NLCIL:

  • Our Students gained an awareness about traffic rules through “Road Safety Mobile Bus” organized by NLCIL to observe “National Road safety Week” in Jan 2023.
  • Our school teachers and students, participated in the World Environment day celebration of NLCIL on 5th June 2023. Mr. M Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director NLCIL flagged off the Green tour bus which took the students to the sugarcane and paddy fields near Virudhachalam emphasizing the importance of green environment.
  • Under Swach Bharat Programme conducted by NLCIL our students participated in cleaning the neighbourhood.
  • On 23th January, our students of Class IX participated in the painting competition. ParikshaPeCharcha conducted in the KV school.
  • Health Campaign on leprosy was conducted by Health Inspector from NLCIL.

NLCIL Training& Competitions:

  • Training program for teachers on counseling skills was conducted by NLCIL in which teachers of our school participated.
  • To enhance capacity building in teachers, our teachers attended the skill development program conducted by NLCIL ( On 9th and 10th January 2023)
  • National Science Day was celebrated by NLCIL on 28th February 2023 with the theme (Global Science for Global Well being) Scientific film displays, Quiz contest and discussions were organized. Our students of classes VII and VIII displayed science projects and won prizes in the competition.

Devi. Vijaya R of VII–C wonIstprize for her model on Bio-dynamic Agriculture. Kethernal Mercy R of VIII – H won 2nd prize for the static model on Haemodialysis.

  • On the occasion of Women’s Day(8th March 2023), teachers were happy to receive certificates of appreciation and sweets from NLCIL Management.
  • To develop the language and Speech patterns, English Recitation competition was conducted for the tiny tots of KG classes. Prizes and medals were presented to the winners. “Kids day” was celebrated for our kindergartens in the month of March.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

  • In order to inculcate the qualities of empathy and generosity spirit in our students, they are motivated to extend by their whole-hearted contributions for AIDS patients at Tindivanam&Panchalam and mentally challenged patients at Thurinjipoondi.
  • Students Welfare Awareness Campaign was organized by Mr. N. Francis the RTO, for parents and Van/auto rickshaw drivers.
  • Sr. Nirmala conducted an orientation programme on moral values for students of classes X, XI, and XII on 15th June 2023.
  • On “Anti Drug Abuse Day” our students staged a rally against drug abuse on 26th June 2023.
  • To develop reading skills and reduce the screen time, skills Book Exhibition was organized for our students in July 2023 by Sisters of St. Paul’s from Pondy Congregation.
  • SKILL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES FORTEACHERS
    "Enriching teachers is enriching students as teachers knowledge trickles down to their students."
  • To enhance the pedagogical skills, Performance Excellence training programme was conducted by MR K Sekar, Principal of Sri SaiVidhyashram Senior Secondary school for our teachers on 31st May 2023.
  • Fr John Kennedy from Palayamkottai highlighted on addressing diverse students needs and integrating technology through his workshop on Education for transformation on 9th June 2023.
  • Teachers attended the seminar conducted by Sr.Nirmala and gained insights to promote reflective practices that foster collaboration and ultimately improve students outcomes on 16th June 2023.
  • The management provided an opportunity for microteaching for the teaching community to get deeper knowledge regarding the art of teaching.

TECH DEVELOPMENTS & ENHANCEMENTS:

Biometric attendance for staff was replaced with Face recognition. 30 new computers with high configuration and internet connection were installed. More of CCTV units were added to the already existing unit for security purpose.

The front portion of the Silver Jubilee Block was renovated with paver blocks and a stage for School Assembly was constructed for primary children.

COMPETITIONS:

Healthy competition inspires students to do their best, to foster inquisitiveness and achieve high benchmarks; students are encouraged to participate in Spell Bee Olympaid and talent exams held at the National Level.

  • 44 students of classes VI – IX participated in NASO Science Olympiad Exam( On 14th Dec 2022)
  • 122 Students participated in science Olympiad by National Teachers Council while 70 students appeared for the All India Talent Search Examination ( on 16th December 2022)
  • AIMSMaths talent exam was conducted for Classes I – VIII ( on 15th February 2023)

GAMES & SPORTS ACTIVITIES:

When students are physically fit they will achieve more academically. Games and sports develop a sense of friendliness among the children and also build their team spirit. It has children to develop mental and physical toughness during this in mind the school provides ample opportunities for the students to perform regular exercise yoga and to play and proof they metal in various sports and games many students participated in various events like basketball tournament, chess tournament, football tournament, kho-kho, Skating, Kabbadi, volleyball, table tennis tournaments and have won laurels to the school.

Ms. V Dharshini our passionate football player of Std XI has participated in Chief Minister Trophy and has won 3rd place. She has also received a cash award of Rs. 25,000 from the Tamil Nadu Government.

Ms. A Dharshini our skillful silambam player of Std X has participated in the Chief Minister Trophy held on 13th February 2023 and has won 1st place in Alangaramurai and second place in SurulVeechu.

JRC:

  • • Junior Red Cross Club provides a platform to promote humanitarian values for the upliftment of the society. Our school Red Cross Junior took part in various social activities and rendered their service to the needy. They undertook rallies to create awareness on “Avoid Using Plastics”, rain water harvesting and dengue prevention. They participated in District Level JRC camp and were appreciated as the best team by the CEO.

GUIDES

  • Our school guides have been actively participating in activities involving life skills, team building and outdoor adventure education. 9 Guide students of Class VIII attended the 18th National Jamboore Guides Camp in Rajasthan along with their Guide teacherMrs.Malathi. They won prizes in Competition of Folk Dance, Peagant show & Food Plaza state exhibition. They received Jamboore Award Certificates, Integration Certificates & Global village badges.
  • Our Honourable President Ms. DroupadiMurmu inaugurated the Jamboree, Tamil Nadu Education Minister Sri AnbilMagesh presided over and met the participants of Tamil Nadu.
  • 3 days state level Camporee was held at Chennai in which 17 guide students of our school attended accompanied by their Guide teacher. Our school won the 1st place in colour party among 60 other schools. They were awarded the shield by the Chief Guest, Mr. AnbilMagesh, State education minister.
  • Thinking day Celebration was attended by 80 guide students and the Captain.
  • 60 student guides will be appearing for the Rajyapuraskar Test in the coming days.

CELEBRATIONS:

Celebrating important events in school is an integral part of our school culture. It glorifies the contribution of eminent personalities.

  • Parents day Celebration 2022 – We celebrated our school parents day on 3rd December 2022. Shri C V Ganesan, Labour Welfare and skill development minister Tamil Nadu, was the Chief Guest of the day and Shri SabaRajendran, MLA and Shri S Nagarajan, GM Education Sports & Culture, NLCIL were the guests of honour.
  • Students of Class XII were given an emotional farewell on 20 Feb 2023.
  • Ceremonious farewell was given to our former correspondent Sr. Agnes and the new correspondent Sr. Mary Grace was warmly Welcomed. A patriotic children’s movie Nehru mama was screened for students of Classes 1 – 9 .
  • National Festivals: – Independence Day, Republic Day, are celebrated with reverence for our motherland with patriotic song and dances.

Picnics & Excursion:

"Educational trips allow students to mobilize their learning and promotes socializing."

  • Students of classes X and XII were taken to Velankanni for relaxation.
  • LKG and UKG students enjoyed a fun filled day at Nehru park.
  • Teachers were taken for a free trip to Goa for 5 days. They had an enjoyablerefreshing experience.

CONCLUSION:

A school cannot function without unstinted support and encouragement from its Stakeholders.

I take this opportunity to thank the Almighty for all His blessings. I am extremely glad at the fact that our students and teachers are leaving no stones unturned in working towards the advancement of our school.

We will continue our unceasing efforts to offer better provision of education for our community.
